Future Plans or Dreams? PDF Print
Contributed by Francis Dower
We may not remember how our kindergarten looked like, when we first came there, but we all remember our first dream, our first desired ‘something’, be it a bright doll or set of paints. That is because dreams follow us in the course of our life. The same is with plans. Although, there is a conceptual difference in these two phenomena, there is an important common thing; dreams and plans are about future. Besides, they both stimulate us for achievements.

Sometimes we get disappointed, because what we’ve wanted is not going to happen or is going to happen in an opposite way. We had some Napoleon plans but then have to give them up. For example, we got a challenging assignment at school, and decided to make utmost efforts and write a perfect essay, but then some thing may ruin our plan completely and we have to appeal to
essays writing in order not to fail. Ruined plans are a common thing, but that should not become an obstacle for further planning. People tend to plan because thus they feel more comfortable and safer, as if they control a situation. Future is uncertain, but a good planning quite frequently becomes a prerequisite for success. Planning is a tendency of modern life, planning has become an indispensable part of any business or activity. There are worked out concepts on economy development planning, city planning www.lib.berkeley.edu/ENVI/cityweb.html etc. All these concepts provide with detailed plan or program. Although they sometimes fail to foresee all options, business and policy planning are more than popular, they are always on the run. Dreams are much more personal and mostly touch some very special sides. Some people dream of living on an exotic island, with no sign of civilization. For others this may seem as a nightmare. It is all too individual. Anyway, dreams are closely connected to plans, because a dream can grow or transform into a plan. For a young scholar doing custom research papers writing is a permanent activity, while this could seem fantastic when he/she graduated from the school. Plans and dreams motivate and stimulate, because they offer prospects for a person. That is probably an explanation why people continue planning and dreaming despite certain failures, which are obvious to occur. As the saying goes, “A man proposes but God disposes”.

Plans for the future and dreams may not be realized, but they are necessary for any person, in order to find a life incentive. Anatole France once said: “To accomplish great things, we must not only act, but also dream; not only plan, but also believe.” That is a good guideline for any person, if not forget about practical dimension, but concentrate on both, mental and practical acts.
