A Fresh Perspective - Lost Sales PDF Print
Contributed by Administration Team

By Dave Brown

This is Dave Brown. I want to tell you about a *very*
interesting  experience that I had. And I'll give you a tip
to help you avoid having this very interesting experience
yourself. It could cost you a lot of money.

Today's Fresh Perspective: Salvaging Lost Clickbank Sales

I had a software product for sale, and I decided to limit
the number of licenses I sold. I did one last promotion to
sell 100 licenses, and then I took it off the market.

The sales were all handled by Clickbank. If you've made
many purchases through Clickbank, then you probably know
they sometimes reject credit cards for no apparent reason.
Well, I just discovered how shockingly common this can be.

As I said, I sold 100 licenses, so this math will be easy.
Two people emailed me and asked if they could pay using
Paypal because Clickbank wouldn't accept their credit
cards. If they hadn't emailed me, 2 out of the 100 sales
would have been lost.

A short while later, I noticed that quite a few people had
visited the order page and not ordered (I collected their
names and email addresses just before sending them to the
order page). So I emailed some of these people.

I told them that if they had abandoned their order because
Clickbank rejected their payment, then they could use an
alternate order link to pay using my 2CheckOut account.
And I gave them the other order link.

I sent out 22 of these emails, and 5 of those people ended
up buying. That's 5 more sales I would have lost thanks to
Clickbank. In all, I would have lost 7 out of 100 sales
because of Clickbank's temperamental nature. That's 7%!

I think this is just incredible. I've learned an extremely
valuable lesson from this. I will *always* try to follow
up on abandoned sales from now on. At least the ones that
go through Clickbank. In this particular example, I was
only selling 100 licenses. So I would have gotten 100
whether I did this or not.

But if I was keeping the product on the market, then it's
possible I would have lost 7% of all the possible sales I
could have made. That can add up to an awful lot of money
over time.

I'm not giving up on Clickbank though. Clickbank has some
good points as well. It's certainly convenient for them to
handle the affiliate program. But you can bet I'll be
taking steps to catch any future customers who slip
through their grasp. And I'd recommend you do the same if
you don't already.

Now, I'll tell you why I'm not too bright. Stephen Pierce
actually told me about this problem months ago. And he
already told me to follow up on abandoned orders, just as
I did. And yet I didn't start doing it right away. I'm
sure I lost some sales before some lonely brain cell in
the back of my head reminded me of this idea.

If you're not familiar with Stephen Pierce, he's the
author of the unbelievably popular ebook The Whole Truth.
If you haven't read it yet, that ebook is just packed with
useful information. It seems as though everyone has
already read this ebook, but Stephen recently told me that
he's still selling thousands every month. So I guess not
everyone has read it.

Strangely enough following up on lost Clickbank sales is
not something that's covered in the ebook. Stephen
actually told me about that in one of his follow up emails
after I bought the ebook. His follow up is like nothing
you've ever seen.

The problem I've just told you about here is only one of
the countless ways that Stephen explains how to boost your
site's productivity. His ebook has an incredible amount of
valuable information in it. This guy's amazing. And a nice
person too.

If you haven't read this ebook yet, then you should read
it as soon as possible if and *only* if you already have a
web site that makes money. This ebook is all about how to
make *more* money from your web site.

You should *not* read this ebook if you don't have a web
site. Or if your web site doesn't already make you any
money. Or if your web site doesn't get any traffic.
Because the ebook *won't* tell you how to make money if
you're not already making money.

You can learn more about it at
http://www.dave-brown.com/wholetruth.html

But whether you read the ebook or not, follow up on
Clickbank's abandoned sales whenever possible. You don't
want to lose 7% of what you *could* be making.

Until next time,
Dave
